Whimsy as Entry into Deeper Inquiry

My work begins with whimsy.

Not as decoration, but as a doorway — a way of lowering defenses so that deeper inquiry can move in. I believe audiences and actors alike arrive more fully when they're first invited to play.

A Gender Expansive Approach to Casting

I approach every production with a gender expansive lens, because the stories we tell are bigger than the binaries we've inherited. Casting that reflects this isn't a statement — it's just good dramaturgy.

Meet the Play Where It Is

And above all, I try to meet the play where it is. Not where I want it to be, not where it's been before — where it is, right now, with these people, in this room. That's the invitation. That's where the real work starts.
